"We want to make games that are playable as well as realistic, and we want to understand why."

Wargame Developments

Wargame Developments is a loose association of like-minded individuals dedicated to the continued development of non-commercial wargames of any kind whatsoever. We believe that most wargamers have the capability to produce their own games that, in most cases, are infinitely superior in fun, realism, and value for money than the majority of popular commercial wargames. We do not follow any single style of game, or period, as it is the game itself that is important.

The NUGGET

We publish 9 issues of our Journal, the NUGGET, per year. It is a forum for games, ideas, developments of existing games, half-baked thoughts on future games, historical articles, and anything else that might have an impact on wargames. It is privately produced as an A-5 booklet with about 28-36 pages per issue. Many issues contain complete games.

Designing Military Conflict Simulations (DMCS) Course

Each year we conduct a training course lasting a full weekend at which we take the opportunity to put our theories into practice, to conduct development workshops on specific ideas, hold presentations, play games and much more. The course is residential with food and accommodation included, so as to get away from the frenzied crush of commercial wargames conventions. It takes place in Britain, currently in Northamptonshire, and places are limited to 65 persons.

The Internet

A number of individuals within WD have placed their games, thoughts and ideas on the Internet so that anybody can access them.
